Allen-Bradley® MP Series

Low-inertia, high-output brushless servomotors incorporate innovative design features that significantly increase torque while reducing motor size.

These compact, highly dynamic brushless servomotors from Rockwell Automation are designed to meet the demanding requirements of high-performance motion systems.

This series of servo motors is commonly used with Allen-Bradley Kinetix® 6000. Kinetix 6200. Kinetix 6500.

Kinetix 300. and Kinetix 350 servo drive families.

These motors are available in nine frame sizes and offer continuous stall torque from 0.26 to 163 Nm (2.3-1440 lb-in) and peak torque from 0.77 to 278 Nm (6.8-2460 lb-in).

MP Series low-inertia motors are available:

– Innovative winding technology that delivers up to 40% more torque per unit size than conventional servomotors

– Improved winding insulation for enhanced thermal management and heat transfer for improved performance

– High-energy rare earth magnets for faster acceleration

– New SpeedTEC DIN connectors allow free positioning of connectors and a single cable family for all MP series motors

– Integrated 24 volt brake option

– Wide torque range – all motors in the same series

– Optional shaft seal with IP 66 environmental rating

– Standard IEC 72-1 mounting dimensions

– Operating Temperature Range 0 – 40º C (32 – 104º F)

– MP Series low inertia motors are UL recognized for components meeting applicable UL and CSA standards and CE certified for compliance with all applicable directives.

High Performance Feedback

MP Series low inertia motors are equipped with high performance encoders with a choice of single or multi-turn high resolution feedback.

– Up to 2 million counts per revolution for smooth performance and precise control (MPL-A/B3xx, -A/B4xx, -A/B45xx, -A/B5xx, -B6xx, -B8xx and -B9xx motors)

– Up to 260.000 counts per revolution for smooth performance and precise control (MPL-A/B15xx and -A/B2xx motors)

– Multiturn encoder provides high-resolution absolute position feedback over 4096 turns. Electromechanical Design Requires No Batteries

– MP-Series servo motors with high-resolution encoders can be used as components of the Kinetix safety shutdown feature Smart Motor Technology

– Onboard memory retains motor identification

– Communication link automatically reports identity to system at startup to reduce commissioning time

Connectors and Cables

The new SpeedTEC DIN connector for MP-Series low inertia motors allows for flexible connector positioning and a single cable family for all MP-Series motors.

The SpeedTEC DIN connector is designed to provide a quick quarter-turn connection. www.abb-drive.com This makes servo connections simple and safe.

The connector meets the requirements of various codes and standards:

– UL recognized

– NFPA 79 compliant

– DESINA cable sheath coloring

– Tray cable rating

– RoHS and REACH compliant

– 600V insulation class

Motor Cables

Rockwell Automation offers a comprehensive line of power, feedback, and brake cables for your MP-Series motors.

Products include standard and continuous power cables in lengths ranging from 1 to 90 meters.

Continuously energized and braked cables are RoHS and NFPA-79 tray rated and consist of UL listed bulk cable. Sheath colors conform to DESINA specifications.

Motor Accessories

Shaft seal kits are available for all frame sizes of MP-Series low inertia motors. When properly installed, the shaft seals are IP66 rated.

Please note that shaft seals are wearing parts and need to be replaced periodically.

Motor end connector kits are available for most MP Series motors. These kits are available for customers who choose to make their own cables.

These kits utilize a metal backshell, a compression-sealed cable jacket, and either a soldered or crimped connector receptacle (depending on the kit).

Crimp tools are supplied by Rockwell Automation for use with crimp style receptacles.
