GE Mark VIe Series IS215SECAH1A Solar Conversion Module

The IS215SECAH1A printed circuit board was originally manufactured by GE Energy, a General Electric Shell company, for use in their dedicated Mark VIe Wind series of wind turbine control systems. Whilst the PCB was designed as a member of the Mark VIe Wind Turbine range, the actual functional description of the product is Solar MACC-BPPB-WEMD component, which indicates its true position within the SOLAR TURBINE control system range. Given the limited availability of GE Energy’s Solar Turbine family of products, this IS215SECAH1A module is likely to be confused with alternative energy manufacturer GE Energy’s Mark VIe wind turbine control system family. This is not a regular version of the IS215SECAH1 printed circuit board, but exists as a special assembly that includes the MACC, BPPB and WEMD component printed circuit boards. This is a revision of the original IS215SECAH1 parent product with a single function revision rated ‘A’.

Hardware Tips and Specifications

While there is not a great deal of factory-released original manual IS215SECAH1A information available online, there is not a great deal of original manual information about the printed circuit board, but some useful material suggests that its status as a solar MACC-BPPB-WEMD component is a strong starting point. Additional information on the series and individual product status of the IS215SECAH1A boards can be obtained by careful visual inspection with a supplementary breakdown of the individualised IS215SECAH1A product numbers. For the uninitiated, two of the more obvious hardware components integrated into the IS215SECAH1A PCB substrate can be recognised in the standard issue Ethernet ports, which are placed longitudinally across each other on the large printed circuit board. Although the IS215SECAH1A board itself contains no other Ethernet ports, the centre of the BPPB board to which it is attached has two identical Ethernet ports. The drive manager has access to eight other ports that connect to this IS215SECAH1A board. These ports are all female and are attached to the edges of the IS215SECAH1A board during factory installation by using screw brackets to improve connection efficiency.

In addition to the various female ports available to users of the IS215SECAH1A board, a series of integrated circuits are integrated into the design of this SECA module. Each of them should be labelled with an individual reference mark, and some of them appear to carry their own factory-applied reference labels with individual component specifications. The final obvious standout hardware feature for the IS215SECAH1A’s circuit board assembly is its series of factory drilled holes. These factory-drilled holes, which are used for mounting purposes, are insulated for complete surface and internal voltage protection, and they are present on the IS215SECAH1A board in a total of five.

While a litany of pertinent information about the IS215SECAH1A printed circuit board is apparent from a simple visual inspection, additional facts about the product can be obtained through a simple breakdown of the unique IS215SECAH1A part number, including www.abb-drive.com its special assembly version, SECA functional acronym, and its chemically applied conformal PCB coating protection. This IC695ALG600 comes with two (2) banks of four (4) channels each that can be configured for any combination of input signals.

It supports 0-20 mA, 4-20 mA, +/-20 mA current signals; +50 mV, +150 mV, 0-5 V, 1-5 V, 0-10 V, +10 V voltage signals.

0 to 250 / 500 / 1000 / 2000 / 3000 / 4000 ohm resistance signals; PT 385 / 3916. N 618 / 672. NiFe 518. CU 426 RTD sensors.

B, C, E, J, K, N, R, S, T thermocouple inputs.

The IC695ALG600 is installed on the RX3i Universal Backplane and requires at least firmware version 2.80 or higher.

This module is configured using Proficy Machine Edition (PME) version 5.0 SP1A LD-PLC Hotfix 1 or higher.

For signal termination, this module requires a cassette (IC694TBB032), expansion cassette (IC694TBB132),

spring-loaded (IC694TBS032) or extended spring-loaded (IC694TBS132) terminal blocks. Extension terminals are recommended.

These terminals have slightly larger covers to accommodate wires and shields with thicker insulation.

The module supports flash memory and status LEDs for future upgrades, such as module status, field status, and TB LEDs.

The GE Fanuc IC695ALG600 Resistance Temperature Detector (RTD) Input Module has a maximum power consumption of 5.4 watts.

The internal power rating is 350.3 mA at 350.3 www.abb-drive.com volts and 5 mA at 400 volts.400. The input channels are divided into 2 groups of 4 each.

Each channel can be independently set up using Machine Edition software to operate at +/-50 mV, +/-150 mV, 0 to 5 volts, 1 to 5 volts, 0 to 10 volts, 1 to 5 volts, and 0 to 10 volts,

1 to 5 volts, 0 to 10 volts DC, +/-10 volts DC, or 0 to 20 mA, 4 to 20 mA, or +/-20 mA.

Thermocouple input types include types B, C, E, J, K, N, R, S, or T. Resistance inputs are rated from 0 to 250. 500.

1000. 2000. 3000. or 4000 ohms, and 8 channels that can be voltage, resistance inputs, thermocouple, and current inputs.

The GE Fanuc IC695ALG600 RTD input module has configurable input filters.

The possible frequencies are as follows: 8 Hz, 12 Hz, 16 Hz, 40 Hz, 200 Hz, or 1000 Hz.

It also has a maximum RTD cable impedance rating of 25 ohms. This module is located in the RX3i general purpose backplane and cannot be located in a remote or expansion backplane.

It has a Module Normal LED that indicates the status of the module. The Field Status LED indicates a fault on the smallest channel or an error on a terminal.

The Terminal LED indicates the presence of a terminal. the IC695ALG600 module has an operating temperature range of 0 to 60 degrees Celsius (32 to 140 degrees Fahrenheit).

The IC695ALG600 module has an operating temperature range of 0 to 60 degrees Celsius (32 to 140 degrees Fahrenheit) and a storage temperature range of -40 to 85 degrees Celsius (-40 to 185 degrees Fahrenheit).
