Introduction to the DeltaV™ VerticalPlus I/O Rack

Keep your I/O subsystems running efficiently with DeltaV™ VerticalPlus I/O Racks.

The VerticalPlus platform allows you to integrate DeltaV SIS logic solvers vertically, giving you the flexibility you need for cabinet design.

Power supplies/controllers and I/O carriers are modular.

You buy only what you need, but rest assured that as your system grows, you can add plug-and-play carriers-it’s easy!

The Advantage

Designed specifically for SIS. The redesigned carrier supports simplex and redundant SLS modules.

These modules communicate via a redundant safety bus, which is separate from the BPCS communications.

The VerticalPlus carrier also communicates with other SIS nodes on the vertical and horizontal carriers via redundant SISNet repeaters.

The modular design allows for flexible installation. A single T-shaped DIN rail is all that is needed to mount the power/controller carrier in place.

Fieldbus power is now independent for each individual card.

The modular design approach of the DeltaV system allows you to add I/O carriers as needed.

Allows you to expand online. Additional carriers can be added online as needed.

Increases the density of the cabinet-mounted system. Six I/O carriers can be mounted on one side of a standard 1200mm x 600mm x 2200mm cabinet.

Product Description

The VerticalPlus I/O Interface Carrier plugs into the 4-Wide Power/Controller Carrier, which provides power to the system and communication between the I/O interface and the controller.

The controller processes I/O interface information through the control module.

The VerticalPlus I/O Interface Carrier provides a separate bus field power connection for each I/O card.

The carrier is designed to support the same terminals as the horizontal carrier.

The carriers are mounted on T-shaped DIN rails. Each I/O interface www.abb-drive.com carrier is supplied with connectors for direct mating together.

A single I/O subsystem supports a total of eight 8-width I/O interface carriers for a maximum of 64 local I/O interface cards.

Cable extenders are used to connect carriers that cannot be installed next to each other, allowing the carriers to be arranged in standard equipment cabinets.

The extender has two 22-pin D-type connectors and supports a dual cable fault-tolerant configuration.

Ports A and B are connected in parallel so that either port can be used.

The new Dual Carrier Extender also supports the redundant secure bus coaxial connectors used by DeltaV SIS.

The total length of the I/O bus is 6.5 metres (21.3 feet).

The VerticalPlus carrier can also be used for Zone 2 remote I/O devices to provide installation flexibility.
