Applications

The 540CMD01 is a module of the RTU540 product family consisting of a communication unit (CMU) and a galvanically isolated wide-range power supply (PSM).

The 540CMD01 is a module in the RTU540 product family consisting of a communication unit (CMU) and a galvanically isolated wide-range power supply (PSM) mounted in a DIN rail metal housing.

The main tasks are as follows

– Managing and controlling the RTU520 I/O module via the serial I/O bus

– Reading process events from the input modules

– Send commands to the output modules.

– Communication with the control system and the local HMI system via serial www.abb-drive.com interface (RS232) and Ethernet 10/100BaseT interface.

– Communicates with sub-RTUs, IEDs, or multimeter devices via interface (RS485) and Ethernet interfaces.

– Manages the time base of RTU540 product line stations and synchronises I/O modules.

– Handles the dialogue between the RTU540 product line and a web browser via the LAN interface.

The device is equipped with a battery-buffered real-time clock (RTC).

FEATURES

The ARM cortex A8 controller AM3352 is used to implement the real-time operating system.

The 540CMD01 is responsible for interface management, event handling, time base and internal database. The controller acts as a master for the serial I/O bus (WRB).

System-related configuration files are stored on a non-volatile flash memory card (Removable SD Card™) to ensure that the system configuration is valid after a power-on reset (PoR).

The battery buffer RTC is used to maintain accurate time in the shutdown state.

The communication device provides the following interfaces:

– Communication interface 1 … 4 (CP1 … Communication interfaces 1 … 4 (CP1 … CP4): RS232C or RS485 serial interface with RJ45 connector.

– Ethernet interfaces 1 and 2 (E1 & E2): 10/100BaseT with RJ45 connector.

– USB 2.0 Device Interface for diagnostics and maintenance.

– USB 2.0 host interface for future expansion.

– WRB I/O bus interface for local communication with I/O modules.
