Description

AMC8 Card

The AMC8 is an analog monitoring card designed for use in the VM600 rack-mounted system in the Meggitt Vibrometer® product family for machinery monitoring and protection applications.

This versatile card is capable of measuring and monitoring up to eight analog signal inputs simultaneously.

The AMC8 card is available in two versions: a “standard” version and a “circuit independent” version, both of which are available as card pairs using the corresponding IOC8T input/output card.

The AMC8 card is mounted on the front of the VM600 rack (ABE04x or ABE056) and the IOC8T I/O card is mounted on the rear.

Both cards connect directly to the rack backplane via two connectors.

A pair of AMC8/IOC8T cards provides eight channels of temperature monitoring that accept resistance temperature detector (RTD) and thermocouple (TC) temperature inputs as well as process inputs.

The source and type of each channel is selectable during card configuration.

Cold Junction Compensation (CJC) sensor processing is used for the thermocouple temperature channel and can be used for two of the eight channels, also selectable during card configuration.

All inputs are conditioned and compared to user-configurable alarms that are defined through Meggitt’s VM600 MPSx software.

A pair of AMC8/IOC8T cards is configured (i.e. operated independently) via the RS-232 port on the front panel of the relevant AMC8 card.

The AMC8 card also provides access to the CPUx card (ABE04x only) in slot 0 of the VM600 rack via the VME bus.

These interfaces allow the operator to configure the VM600 card, access measurements, view detailed board status, upload firmware updates, and more.

The AMC8 card can drive the four local relays on the IOC8T card, as well as any of the 16 relays on the RLC16 card using the VM600 rack’s raw bus and/or open collector (OC) bus.

These cards also provide analog signal outputs based on current (0 to 25 mA). Voltage outputs are also supported.

Application Information

The AMC8/IOC8T card pair is ideally suited for machinery monitoring and protection in a variety of industrial applications.
